Happy Holidays!                                         Dec. 15, 2003

Making History

The Sampson Schoolhouse was awarded the, "Certificate of Historical Landmark Status", on October the 18th, 2003, thanks to the efforts of the 2002/2003 Board of Directors, Mitch Tanenbaum, Pres., Tamie Martin, Sec. and Virginia Temmer, Trea. It is uncertain at this time if or when the Schoolhouse will receive funds to help maintain it.

2003/2004 Annual Board Meeting

At this past Thanksgiving Dinner/Annual Board meeting, attendance was lower than hoped for due to the heavy snowstorm and ineffective advertising. After a pleasant holiday meal, the meeting came to order. Bylaw Amendment for filling vacant offices, the Treasurer's Report and the 2004 Calendar were approved and a variety of ways to effectually advertise the Community Club's Events were discussed. Virginia Temmer was unanimously re-elected as Treasurer and the office of Vice President remained vacant. Mitch Tanenbaum continues as the President, Tamie Martin remains Secretary and Virginia Temmer serves as Treasurer. Please contact them with your concerns, questions or suggestions.

Neighborhood Hero

All this Editor/Writer can say is, "Thank God for neighbors like Scott Samson!"

For those of you who haven't heard, Scott Samson of Mill Hollow Road, saved our Mountain from fire. On October 13th, around midnight, Scott "saw something flickering", close to the Lee property. The more he watched, the quicker it became apparent that a fire was burning. Yes, a fire! Two teenagers had somehow slipped through the Sampson Road Security Gate, broken the lock on the Private Property Drive and started a 3-4' Bonfire.

After informing the Lees, who called 911 to report it, Scott drove to the site with 3 Fire Extinguishers and shovels. He was, "going to do what I can do until help arrives."

Ted Nowak conducted a Gate Number Search of the entries for that evening and made the necessary changes.

If you have any information about these arsonists, please call John Vanderhorst, (303) 697-5994.

Scott, from all of us, "Thank You!"

And thank you, Iona Byrd and her daughter, Glick Bishop, Karen George, Robert Manzanares, Mitch and Sam Tanenbaum, and Kevin, Michelle and Virginia Temmer, the Clean Up volunteers, who helped tidy up Deer Creek Canyon Road, on September 6th.

Thank you, Karen George, for coordinating this year's Haunted House event and Derek, Glick Bishop, David George, Miss Dee, Robert Manzanares, Kevin, Michelle and Virginia Temmer and all you other volunteers for your priceless, treasured assistance.

Thank you, Val Cukr, for organizing this year's Craft Fair and Garrett Cukr, for sweeping the Schoolhouse floor.

And thank you, members, for paying your yearly $20.00 dues. If you still need to pay, please mail it to the SCC's mailbox, 16150 Sampson Road, Littleton, CO, 80127.

2 vehicles meet on a narrow mountain road. The vehicle going DOWN should stop, and then back up, allowing the vehicle going UP to pass as it is too dangerous to back down a mountain road. Please DON'T Speed. There are people and critters on the roads.
