Your Magic Wand
If each one of us could go to the store
and buy a magic wand, wouldn't we run out as fast as we could and buy one? You
bet we would! We'd give the store our money as fast as we could pull it out
of our purses or wallets if that magic wand would relieve us of our fears
and anxieties, gave us peace of mind, restore our peaceful baby-like slumber,
nourish our souls, rid us of daily irritants, take away our aches and pains,
pay off all the debt we've incurred, and fill our pockets, wallets, and bank
accounts with money.
You bet we'd be the first in line to buy that
magic wand, wouldn't we? Well, no one makes a true magic wand but I do know
for a fact that we all have a magic wand of sorts, a wand we can each use
to conjure up what we truly want.
"Sure I do," you're probably thinking. "If that were true, why am I suffering with headaches, in debt up to my eyebrows, worrying about a dozen things, and anxious the majority of my waking hours?"
"Because," I would answer, "your magic wand, your mind, is making magic or creating 24/7." If you need proof, just look around at what you have already created with your thinking process. You wanted a nice home, now you've got one and the same with a vehicle. You wanted your frig and pantry full of food, they probably are. Then you wanted something else and you got it.
"Yeah, well what about all this negative junk?" you might ask. "Your magic wand, your mind, created that, too," I would answer. Because your mind is creating 24/7, you have to monitor your thinking to avoid creating the negative junk! Throughout the day, simply listen to your "mind talk" or that small voice in your head. By listening, you will discover your sabotaging thoughts and/or words that create headaches or upset stomachs, mountainous debt, anxiety, an unrewarding job and/or an unappreciative supervisor.
Once you have uncovered these negative thoughts and/or words, what do you do? You use your wand: stamp a big red X on the negative thought then say, "cancel." The big red X-cancel procedure is truly an astonishing feature of your magic wand, your mind. It can stop or cancel a negative thought before that thought can create itself. If the big red X-cancel procedure doesn't seem to work for you, toss the thought in a trash bag then drop it in the garbage pail. You'll soon discover that you can gently wave your magic wand and create a raise in your paycheck, more quality time with loved ones, peaceful sleep, a bug-free flower garden or whatever it is that you desire. :-)

Our Middle Name
Community, that's our middle name. Not only
do we host events through out the year but we also provide a friendly environment
in which you have the opportunity to meet your neighbors from the surrounding
mountain ranges. And some of your not-so-close neighbors are business owners
and their business just may be the service you've been looking for.
The events are a great environment for the kids, too. They can make new friends or catch up with old ones at the "especially for kids" Hogwarts Sessions and/or the occasionally presented Kids' Mystery Party.
So check our calendar for this year's events. Its posted on our website, www.sampsonclub.org, the Calendar page. Please, come join us. Oh sure, we're all busy but make sometime this year, a few hours on a Saturday! Come on over, have some fun and something to eat and make some new acquaintances or refresh old connections. Community, that's our middle name!

* Spotlight on Local Businesses *
To date, Spotlight on Local Businesses, has introduced you to four local businesses. They are CARE Alternatives; Miss Dee, Astrologer, Instructor, & Metaphysician; Blue Eyes Web Designs; and Lost Arrow Alpacas.
CARE
Alternatives, Barbara Schroeder, (720) 985-3204
2750 S. Wadsworth Blvd. C-204, Lakewood, CO www.carealternativescenter.com
Barbara "believes that people don't have to live in the constant pain that they are told they must. Pain comes in all forms, and it is not always physical. It can also be emotional or spiritual. That is why she strived to find a technique that would work with all three of these forms to help free people from the ties that bind. Through the years, she has taken a multitude of technique classes and found that one technique did not usually do the job. So she started expanding her thought processes as things arose for her to look at.
Aromatic RSCS continues to grow daily. She was done with the band-aid approach. Now she gets to observe her clients getting to stages that require preventative care, not constant care!"
Barbara owns and operates C.A.R.E. Alternatives Center.
Miss
Dee, Certified Esoteric Astrologer & Instructor, Metaphysician

Miss Dee has been actively involved in the Metaphysical/Astrological field for 25-plus years. She counsels via mini-readings and astrological chart readings, has given countless lectures on her books, teaches spiritual-based astrology, and has written over 100 articles, fourteen "feature pieces" for eight yearly calendars, four books, and one seven-booklet series."

Now, Spotlight on Local Businesses, would like to introduce you to
Pat Vick, GENUINE IMITATIONS ®
(303) 697-0954, 12123 S. Maxwell Hill Road, Littleton, CO 80127
email: giminispat@msn.com (Please put Miniatures on subject line)
My business name is Genuine Imitations (R).
What it means is that what I do is imitate reality in a smaller scale - mostly
1" = 1', but sometimes even smaller.
I make dollhouse miniatures, and also kits to
make lots of things for miniature settings - food, plants, furniture and LOTS
of accessory items. Most of what I own, teach, and sell ends up not in dollhouses,
but part of individual vignettes; some we call "roomboxes" and are
limited to a theme such as a Tea Shoppe, a Red Hat Shop, a hobbyist's workshop,
a garage for my husband's 1/24 scale classic autos, a bathroom or study. Others
are like my gardener in a watering can, workshop in a paint can, an elaborate
garden in a flowerpot saucer, a Mary Engelbreit (TM) themed setting in an
oversized coffee pot...and the list goes on. Some are based on reality, but
a few are flights of fancy like the dragon snacking on pilfered food, elves
living in a castle-like cottage under a large (OK, 8" tall) tree, fairies
babysitting a younger sibling in an Aztec Garden and a household of cats living
in an oversized Garfield (TM) catfood container.
Personalized vignettes done in gift bags, on
bookends, on 6" circles suitable for putting on a dome, or in a container
of choice make great gifts for birthdays, holidays, or other special occassions,
can cost about $50; larger, more elaborate vignettes are more. I love to work
with people who have an idea and want to create or re-create a memory for
a special person. Some people come with a couple items to build around or
a photo as inspiration; others bring only an idea to be built upon. In all
cases we brainstorm a project together.
I also love to share my collection with people
who just want to see what my hobby/business is all about. Our home, besides
being a good example of energy efficiency, is a museum of my work/play. My
rule on guests is this: If you want to see me or my miniatures, just call
to be sure I'm home (We travel and do volunteer work at the Denver Museum
of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys); if you want to see my housekeeping prowess,
make an appointment 6 weeks-6 months in advance. My hobby/business allows
me to be a seamstress one day and a carpenter the next. My ideal week begins
with starting 5 new projects; having multiples going allows paint and glue
to dry without "having nothing to do" until I start the next step
on any single project....and I'm always ready to begin a new theme for my
creativity.

Hogwarts
School Sessions
Wizard's Chess, Calligraphy, Potions, and Trivia were the activities and classes at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's 2009 Winter Session.
Professor Wanderoso was the Wizard's Chess Overseer and was delighted that so many of the students knew how to play chess. He and the students reviewed the rules of this competition then the games began. The pawns were painted coffee cans and the other chess pieces were the students. The chess pieces' spears were broomsticks on loan from the Quidditch closet. At the end of the first two sets of Wizard's Chess, the two winning teams played each other in the Championship Wizard's Chess Tournament game. It was quite the mental battle!
Magical Quills, sent from the Ministry of Magic, were used for a specific writing assignment in Professor Wysard's Calligraphy class. And Jeff, our recently "graduated with high honors" student, shared some unique concoctions in his Potions class. He even had his students name their special infusements! Jeff is now Professor Wondyle.
Naturally, a Trivia Contest was held at the end of the day. A highly respected associate of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Witch Illusionaria, conducted the contest. She had five pages of questions the students needed to answer correctly.
After a delicious feast of chicken, potatoes, corn, and rolls, the Wizard's Chess House Cup was awarded to the Slytherin House. Eight Wizard's Chess trophies were then awarded to the individual players. Next, the House Cup was awarded to the Hufflepuff House. They won with 1350 points. As per tradition, the students of the winning House were the first students allowed to indulge in the chocolate fountain. And a new treat was added this session, pumpkin cookies!
The winning House Cup standings are as such: 2007 Summer Session, the Hufflepuff House; 2007 Fall Session, the Ravenclaw House; the 2008 Winter Session, the Hufflepuff House; and 2008 Spring Session, the Ravenclaw House; the 2008 Fall Session, the Slytherin House; and the 2009 Winter Session, the Hufflepuff House.
The Championship Quidditch Tournament awards now stand as such: 2008 Spring Session, the Ravenclaw House and the 2008 Fall Session, the Gryffindor House.
And the Championship Wizard's Chess Tournament, played during the 2009 Winter Session, was skillfully won by the Slytherin House.
Congratulations to all the winning Houses! The Hogwarts 2009 Summer Session is scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd and the Fall Session is set for Saturday, October the 10th.

the Hogwarts events, please visit the club's website, www.sampsonclub.org.
