Don't Count Your Chickens
"Don't count your chickens before they hatch." Remember that age-old passage? Well it's counter-productive and here's why. It's no secret that we participate in the creating of our life, the direction it's going, and all of the stuff that's in it. We participate in this creation process with positive thinking and enthusiasm as well as self-talk, visualization, and daydreaming.
Did you ever find yourself day-dreaming in school? Do you find yourself daydreaming while watching television or listening to music? Daydreaming is a very powerful creation tool because you are relaxed and seeing/making/creating what you want to happen. In other words, you are counting your chickens then putting them where you want them to be.
A better example is this: you want to sell your antique hutch. You daydream, counting the money being placed into your hands by the buyer and notice how good it feels. In your daydream you see yourself depositing the money into your checking account and notice how wonderful it feels to toy with the many ways you can use that money: pay back a loan, put half of it into your savings account or put it all in the bank. Daydreaming = creating.
Another way we participate in the process of creating of our life is the words we use. You've seen this countless times: your co-worker tells you as she fills her coffee cup, "it's gonna be a bad day." Before you know it, she breaks a heel off her shoe, gets a run in her nylons, spills coffee all over her desk, can't find the report she needs, and on and on. Sure enough, it is a bad day for her. Why? Because she said it was going to be bad - it was the words she used.
Even jokingly saying, "Yeah, I'll probably catch the flu bug that's going around," will put a flu-bug catcher's mitt on your hand! So pay attention to what you say: the more positive the better. And go ahead and count your chickens before they hatch because you are an active participant in your life and in the direction it's going! :-)

Lamb School Endeavors
Just in case you've seen some activity at
the Lamb School recently, here's what Chris & Steve Foster, Andy Hoover,
and others have accomplished
* swept the attic
* removed the old propane tanks
* removed the damaged potbelly stove and also
the cook stove
* disinfected the schoolhouse
* funded and supervised replacement of the windows
using historical guidelines
* placed railroad ties to delineate parking
from "the park."
Thank you, Chris & Steve Foster, Andy Hoover,
and all the other participating folks. Thank you for you time, energy,
expertise, and financial donations to the Lamb School! Can we say it
enough? No, so we'll say it again, thank you!
A few pictures of the Lamb School cleanup

Hogwarts School Sessions
It's no secret that the students, the Professors, and the staff all love Hogwarts School! The 2008 Fall Session was another success as well as loads of fun. Students were on their toes and quite attentive during their lessons in Potions class, taught by Professor Snuckle, and also in Tea-Leaf Reading, II, taught by Professor Wysard. And, once again, the students proved to be quite knowledgeable during the Harry Potter Trivia Time at Hogsmeade!
The Championship Quidditch Tournament between the Gryffindor and Slytherin Houses was the highlight this session and the game was truly a battle! The students used modernized broomsticks for the games and this session we had cheerleaders to spur on the teams. Professor Wanderoso, our Sports Commentator, was beginning to get tongue-tied from often saying, "and Gryffindor scores again!" Our Quidditch Championship Tournament winner was the Gryffindor House. They won the tournament with 200 points. Congratulations to the students of the Gryffindor House!
After a wonderful feast of chicken, potatoes, carrots, corn, and rolls, the House Cup was awarded to the Slytherin House: they earned the most points for good behavior, helpfulness, and participation. They were the first students allowed to indulge in dessert: the chocolate fountain. Following the House Cup award, seven Quidditch Cup trophies were awarded to the winning Quidditch team players, then the rest of the students and the staff members partook of the dessert selection: the chocolate fountain, chocolate frogs, and pumpkin ice cream.
We've
received communication from Headwig, Harry Potter's owl, that four 2009 Hogwarts
Sessions are in the planning stage. The projected dates are February
21st, June 13th, August 22nd, and October 10th. There is a link to a
printable registration form on the Home page. There is a link to a printable

Denver area until 1996, when she moved to the foothills with her two children,
Kevin and Michelle. She also has three cats. She works for Minerals
Management Service.
An avid skier, Virginia volunteered for 15
years with the Sports Center for the Disabled. Retired from that program,
she holds a lifetime ski pass at Winter Park. She spends many winter
weekends at Winter Park, playing there with friends and family.
Virginia became involved with the Sampson Community
Club through Susan Conwell, who is the Mountain Mama Breakfast founder.
Virginia has spent time working on the buildings, coordinating volunteers,
and doing other jobs as needed.
Her goals include improvements to the Sampson School, and eventual restoration of Lamb School. She normally coordinates the calendar for rentals, and has been an officer of the Sampson Community Club for several years.
Vice President, Kevin Temmer (303) 697-7272 11032 Mill Hollow Road
ktemmer@broadspoke.net
Kevin became interested in becoming a board
member in 2007 when he ran for the office of treasurer. However at the time
some believed that he was too young to fulfill this position.
Almost 18 years old, Kevin attends Conifer High School and Warrentech, for a precision machining course. Interests include anything that has wheels, from 2 wheeled pocket rockets to crazy 8 wheeled Russian rally semi trucks.
Kevin's plans for the future are to graduate high school then go on to Red Rocks Community College for 2-3 years then transferring to Colorado School of Mines to finish up a mechanical engineering degree.
Treasurer, Bob Vick (303) 697-0954 12123 S. Maxwell Hill Road bvickr@msn.com
Bob, along with his wife Pat, moved to the Denver
area in 1977 upon Bob's retirement from the US
Air Force. They bought property on Maxwell Hill Road in '84, built between
'85 and '88, and moved in '88. Both have been very active with the Denver
Museum of Miniatures Dolls and Toys on the Board in several positions. Bob
was Treasurer four times. Also active in the Colorado Cactus and Succulent
Society, Bob was Treasurer and President each, twice, over 18 years.
Finally getting rid of the third treasurer job Bob has had concurrently with
two others.
Bob retired from the Environmental Protection Agency in 2003. He taught Solar Energy Technology at Red Rocks Community College '80 to '86. He is still involved with renewable energy programs and does some consulting work on passive solar design and active solar systems. And he is the volunteer coordinator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in Littleton at Bemis Library from January to April.
Bob and Pat enjoy traveling and go on trips to Miniature Shows (Pat makes and sells accessories for Doll Houses), family visits and on ocean cruises. They have been members of the Sampson Community Club for over 16 years.

Blue Eyes Web Designs, a service-disabled veteran owned business, is truly, "website design and computer technology with a personal touch," says Mike Lee, owner.
"I'll build your website from the ground up or rebuild your existing site," says Mike. Your website, as important to us as it is to you, will receive immediate, personal attention: it won't be put on the back burner then started "sometime next week." In the majority of cases, we get your website's "under construction" page out on the internet within 48 hours. The "under construction" page announces your business's arrival to the World Wide Web.
We specialize in creating attractive, informative, easy-to-navigate websites. Blue Eyes Web Designs emphasizes each business's uniqueness by using color, graphics, and artistic flair. We also have an in-house writer. We have built user-friendly 4-page websites and 14-page websites and are of the opinion that, "no website is too small or too large to build and maintain." Some of our websites have archives, some have photos, and some sites have an inventory. And if you want your website to take credit cards or PayPal, (e-commerce) we can do that, too. No matter the size or the complexity, Blue Eyes Web Designs can build and maintain your website.
In addition to building websites, Blue Eyes Web Designs builds custom computers for people who just can't find a PC that does what they want it to do. We will build your PC to your specifications, "without all the extra junk that you don't want or need." Or if you prefer, we will upgrade your current PC to do what you want it to do.
Blue Eyes Web Designs also "TLC's" personal computers. To help keep your PC running smoothly, Mike will defrag, remove cookies, clean out duplicate files, clean up the Registry, and check for and remove any viruses and/or spyware. He will also recommend and install anti-virus, spyware and firewall software.
Mike Lee, Webmaster, is "i-Net+"
certified, a current member of CompTIA, has been building websites since 2002,
and building computers since 2000.
"We are here to help you with your computer
and/or your website needs, whatever they may be." Please give us

Alpaca
sales and alpaca wool sales
Our alpaca farm is in the canyons of the Front
Range near Conifer, Colorado. We have been here for over 8 years, and
have owned alpacas for 11 years. We have 10 acres, which is perfect
for our purposes, with lots of forest and mountain grazing.
We moved to the Lost Arrow Alpacas farm in 2001 with our first alpaca, a wonderful dam named Cuta, her first two boys and her first girl, Sunspot (aka Sunny). The alpacas love it here and have flourished. We now have 10, including a 4-year old stud, two two-year old males and an older fiber animal, plus six females, four moms and two female offspring. Our Akbash, Blanco, keeps the unwanted predators away and the surrounding mountains offer our herd a wonderful environment.
The farm and animals are easy to manage and the environment lends itself to alpaca husbandry. It also offers a healthy lifestyle for our family, all of whom get involved with these interesting friends. Our daughter was even able to film the birth of Sunny's first cria, the first second-generation cria born on the farm.
We now have a good foundation and for the first time, are offering selected animals and packages for sale. We can also offer ajistment (boarding), financing and other services to support a variety of buyers.
Come visit us to play with these wonderful creatures!!
