The Parking Lot:  No Longer a Pool!

In our December 15, 2007 issue of the Squeaky Squirrel, we printed the following article.  "Thanks to a few skilled volunteers and the May, 2007 work done on Sampson Road, our parking lot is no longer a pool of water or mud!  With a laser-beam tool, a dozer, and plenty of expertise, the parking lot was given a V-shaped trench to release pooling rain and snow water.  Our next step, late spring, 2008, will be to bring in a few loads of recycled asphalt and have it spread in the parking lot."

Now we would like to update you: the parking lot has been improved using crushed asphalt.  It looks wonderful and the days of mud and standing pools of water are long gone!

If you missed…

…the Mountain Mama Breakfast, you missed being seated by our headwaiter, Kevin Temmer, then having your breakfast brought to you by one of our charming waitresses, Kimberly and Heidi Albrecht and Michelle Temmer.  Then you missed eating mouthwatering blueberry pancakes and ham or sausage, scrambled eggs, refreshing fruit salad, and delicious hash browns prepared by our chef Nelson Gustafson. You also missed the heavenly fragrance of fresh roses that were given to every Mom.

…Garage Sale Mania, you missed buying artwork, do-dads and knick-knacks, tools and treasures and some other wonderful stuff.  You also missed eating some mighty fine hot dogs and chips, and joining in on some good old-fashioned chitchat.

Is There A Dollhouse In Your Closet?

...or the closet of your mind...or a vignette suitable for a dome or "room box"...to commemorate a special occasion or live a fantasy. I do not build dollhouses, or fine furniture, (only the kind for children to play with), but I love to brainstorm other people's projects and give a bit of free advice. I also stock some building materials, wallpaper, and LOTS of (dollhouse) miniature accessories. I teach making polymer clay food and dollhouse landscaping, as well as kit assembly, and I have kits for furnishing an office or a workshop, plants and planters, foods...and lots more. Our house décor is a testimony to how much I love to create miniature scenes…the reality of workshops, greenhouses, shops to sell tea, Asian arts, Car repair service, cat accessories, etc., etc....and celebrate holidays as well as transport myself into a fantasy world of improbabilities...where cats decorate their own home and watch birds on TV. There is also a gardener's shed in a watering can and the fix-it man works in a paint can...and MUCH MORE. Call me to stir your creative juices, to help you plan a dollhouse or other miniature scene, for supplies, finding sources for materials...or share your creations with me. My business name says it all: it's all real, and it's all reproduced in scale. I'll also tell you about our favorite Museum.

Hogwarts School Sessions

The May 31, 2008 "Hogwarts Spring Session" was tons of fun and a great success.  Excited and enthusiastic students had a wonderful time learning about Broomstick Making, Talisman Shielding, and Tea-leaf Reading.  They also all participated in Quidditch, a quick moving game dependent on skill and keen eyesight.  The students were able to play Quidditch thanks to Professor Sniggleworth who revised the original rules.

Three games each were played between the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor Houses then three games played between the Hufflepuff and Slytherin Houses.  The six games were played in order to determine which Houses would play in the Championship Quidditch tournament.  In this first set of games, Raven-claw won with 320 points and Gryffindor came in at 180 points then Hufflepuff won with 450 points and Slytherin came in at 20 points.  The Championship game, between the Ravenclaw and the Hufflepuff Houses, was extremely quick moving and quite exhilarating to watch!  Even the Professors participated in the games.  Professor Wanderoso was the sport's commentator and the other Professors officiated as the referees!  The winner of the Championship Quidditch Tournament was the Ravenclaw House with 190 points over the 30 points earned by the Hufflepuff House.

After a delicious feast of chicken, potatoes, corn, and rolls, the House Cup was awarded to the Ravenclaw House because they earned 250 points throughout the Spring Session.  And, as per tradition, the students of the winning House were the first students allowed to indulge in dessert:  the chocolate fountain.

The House Cup awards now stand as such:  2007 Summer Session, the Hufflepuff House; 2007 Fall Session, the Ravenclaw House; the 2008 Winter Session, the Hufflepuff House; and 2008 Spring Session, the Ravenclaw House. Congratulations to the winning Houses!
