Issue - Annual Membership Drive
Hi Neighbor,
We have another year of great events planned for 2008. Whether you are a part of the foundation of Sampson Community Club, or a new neighbor, please join the Sampson Community Club. We hope you attend some of our events. Each of our events brings with it a lot of fun, good food, enjoyable time spent with of our family and neighbors, long visits with precious companions, and the start of new friendships.
If you have attended some of our events in the past, thank you and please come again! If you would like to join the Sampson Community Club, we have included our membership form. Our membership year runs from December through November. Please take a moment or two to fill out the membership form and return it along with your $20.00 membership dues in the envelope provided.
The Sampson Community Club, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1955. Its purpose is four fold: to bring the canyon community together in friendship, betterment of our mountain area, preservation of our history, and maintaining the Sampson and Lamb School properties. And membership benefits in the Sampson Community Club are as follows: active membership in your own community, community support and involvement, social gatherings to enjoy food, exchange ideas and information, the opportunity to get to know one another, voting privileges, the use of the Club's facilities for a minimal suggested donation, and subscription to our quarterly newsletter, the "Squeaky Squirrel."
If you have questions, concerns, or ideas, please call one of the Club's Board members: Virginia Temmer, President (303) 697-7272, Kevin Temmer, Vice President (303) 697-7272, Bob Vick, Treasurer (303) 697-0954, and Chris Foster, Secretary (303) 470-1190.
We hope we will see you this year!
Sincerely, The Sampson Community Club Board
Hogwarts School Winter Session
Congratulations to the students of the Hufflepuff House!!! They were awarded the House Cup because they earned the most points for good behavior, helpfulness, excellent recall of past Herbology and Hodge Podgeology lessons, and class participation.
The February 23, 2008 Hogwarts Winter Session event was a great success. Once again, the students were enthusiastic, well behaved, and quite knowledgeable in the Harry Potter Trivia Contest. The contest was held during Hogsmeade, which was conducted by Professor Sniggleworth.
During this session, students learned how to make several very interesting potions, the Potions classes were taught by Professor Snuckle. They also worked with the Rune Stones, a helpful and supportive component of Divinations, the Divinations classes were taught by Professor Snodgrass. Because both classes were larger than normal, Professor Wanderoso (Wand Making) and Professor Wysard (Herbology) assisted Professors Snodgrass and Snuckle.
For the finale, all the students had a hands-on
lesson in making their own magic wand, the Wand Making class was taught by
Professor Wanderoso. At the end of class, Professor Wanderoso, with
the assistance of all of the other Professors, cast a "positive use only"
spell on all of the students' wands and then pronounced that each student
was "now one with your wand."
After the evening feast of chicken, potatoes,
corn, and rolls, the House Cup was awarded to the Hufflepuff House. And
because the students of the Hufflepuff House won, they were the first students
allowed to indulge in dessert: the chocolate fountain. A new addition
to dessert, included in the Fall Session, was pumpkin ice cream. It
was such a hit that it was served again at the Winter Session.
To view all of the wonderful pictures of the
Hogwarts events, photographed by Robert Manzanares, Staff Photographer for

Session photos are on the Current Year's Photo Album page and the Summer and
Fall Session photos are on the Photo Album Archives page, www.sampsonclub.org.
And yes, there will be a Hogwarts Spring Session. The Hogwarts
Spring Session will be held on May 31, 2008, 2:30 - 8:00 pm.
