The Squeaky Squirrel
A
newsletter about and for our Mountain Community by Miss Dee, published
author (a.k.a. Dee Lee)
Dec. 15, 2005
We had a great time
at the Canyon Clean Up. We grabbed our orange bags and gloves then tidied up the road.
at the Harvest Potluck Picnic Dinner - Sweet Tooth Bake Sale which, by the way, was held during the harvest full moon! The cold fried chicken, hot apple cider, and a variety of salads were delicious and many folks contributed to our Building Fund by selecting goodies from the Bake Sale table.
at the Halloween Potluck Dinner/Haunted Cabin. Yummy food was abundant, candy was everywhere, and small children in costume reminded adults of their childhood. And all of this before the Haunted House! Bezmerelda, the Haunted House guide, lead us through long, dark hallways into rooms filled with body parts, ghouls, spooks, and the living dead.
at the Thanksgiving Dinner/Annual Membership Meeting. Never a bigger feast could anyone want!!! The turkey melted in your mouth and the side dishes were heavenly. The Officers added one new event to the Club's calendar and the membership elected a new Vice President and Treasurer as well as two new Junior Vice Presidents and one Junior Treasurer.
at the Craft Fair. We shopped 'til we dropped!!!

From the Board
We would like to welcome aboard the Sampson Community Club's new Board members and introduce them to you.
Treasurer, Brian
Lambert (303) 697-8933, 11972 Maxwell Hill Rd., Brian_Lambert@dpsk12.org
Brian bought his property in Deer Creek Canyon back
in 1991. He moved to Colorado in 1997 from Redondo Beach, California with
his wife, Janie, and daughter Audrey. The family has since grown with the
addition of son Liam. In 2000, the Lamberts added 2000 sq. ft. on to their
500 sq. ft. cabin. The process took 3 1/2 years as they did most of the
work themselves.
Having been an avid surfer for most of his life, skiing has now taken the place of the ocean. Brian and his family spend most winter weekends skiing. During other seasons, traveling, bicycling, hiking and climbing "fourteeners" (14,000 ft. mountains) are other passions. Brian has been an 8th grade math teacher for 16 years, the first 7 spent in South Central Los Angeles and the remaining at Lake Middle School in Denver.
Brian and Janie became involved with the Sampson Community Club back in 1991, on a part time basis. They spent summers here at their cabin, returning to work in California at summer's end. Having enjoyed the small town feel the Sampson Community Club provided, they got more involved when they returned here to live.
His goals for the Club include improvements to the
Sampson school, to build club membership, and bring back members who were once
more involved or not attending events anymore for one reason or another.
Junior
Vice President, Sami Pettus
Samantha Pettus
is an eighth grader at West Jefferson Middle School. She plays the flute
and likes drawing, karate, and basketball. She was born in Australia along
with her two older brothers. When she was just a baby, Sam flew to Atlanta,
Georgia, but did not stay for very long. Shortly after, her family moved
to Colorado, where they stayed in an apartment for a little bit, then moved into
a house in Arvada.
In the summer of fourth grade, she was moved to a house in Critchell, where she and her family raised over 15 farm animals. They purchased three horses, one alpaca, two dogs, two cats, and many fish. From various trades and preg-nancies, they now have five horses, eight alpacas, two dogs, two cats, one bird, and no fish. Sam is responsible for three of those animals. The lovebird, Tangerine, sits in her room, and her horse Crystal gave birth to a filly named, Shadowstar.
Junior Vice President, Michelle Temmer
I
was born in Denver in 1994 and moved to the foothills the next year. I like
pizza. I go to Parmalee Elementary School and I am in the fifth grade.
My favorite subject is Social Studies. My favorite word is "UM"
because it's unique.
My plans for the community club are: to make the Sampson Community Club more kid-friendly, to encourage having the Junior Board again, and to have an annual petting zoo.
Junior Treasurer,
Kevin Temmer
My name is Kevin Temmer and
I was born in Denver, Colorado. I am 14 years old and in the ninth grade
at Conifer High School. My hobby is remote control cars. I am the
new treasurer for the Junior Board. I am also a good skier if anyone needs
a ski buddy.
